Small Heriz Carpet with Unusual Borders

This pretty Heriz carpet is a lovely little room size which one rarely comes across. The geometric medallion design is very well drawn with restrained ornamentation and harmonious colours. Note the subtle dark pink background of the field. However, the most eye-catching feature of this carpet is the highly unusual main border. The sapphire blue ground is decorated with stylised floral ornaments and arabesques drawn in a joyful and highly attractive manner. When one imagines that this piece may well feature in a dinner room or living space where the borders will receive prominent attention, this carpet will make a bold statement. Generally in good condition, and professionally cleaned, the visible signs of minor wear give it the lived-in look which adds another dimension to this very charming carpet.
