Indian Wool Dhurrie
Indian Dhurries from the 19th century were normally woven in cotton as the ideal material for a floorcovering in a warm climate. It is therefore very unusual to come across one woven in wool, especially one as pretty and decorative as this example. The choice of two colours, a dark pink and a light brown, works extremely well to create a reciprocity between the repeating lattice and the cruciforms. The design is simple and elegant and really catches the eye. The simple plain border is the perfect frame. This lovely piece would look stunning in many settings.
