Sparkling Caucasian Runner
Probably woven in the Gendje region around 1860, this lovely Caucasian rug sparkles -from the design of repeating stars with lattices to the happy range of colours. Rarely have I seen such an array of greens, combined with yellows, pale blues and terracottas. The all wool structure suggests an early date, possibly mid-19th century. Some minor restoration in a few places, otherwise in generally good usable condition. Professionally cleaned. This special piece is something for both the collector and decorator.
