Silk and Silver-Thread Ottoman Embroidery
Dating to around 1800, this lovely item is composed of three skirts from embroidered towels which have been sewn together to create a highly decorative panel. The designs across the three panels appear to be very similar suggesting they came from a matching pair. Embroidered delicately in silk on a fine linen background in delicate shades of pale blue, pink and olive green, combined with generous use of silver thread, the floral design flows elegantly creating a lovely calm ambience. Ideal for hanging.
