Serapi Carpet

Interior designers are often looking for a carpet to define the space they are decorating. This handsome room-size Serapi carpet has that appeal. The colours are subtle and harmonious with an impressive design which would work equally well in period and contemporary settings. Note that the field and border have the same abrashed terracotta which I find very elegant. One could imagine it enhancing a drawing room, study or even a bedroom. Finely knotted with zero warp depression and single wefted, it is an excellent example of the North-West Persian carpet weaving in the last quarter of the 19th century.
