Silk Embroidery on Damask
Often referred to as Arri work this intriguing beauty was probably made in India for the Persian market. Woven on a fuchsia silk damask background, the teardrop medallion surrounded by flowers and birds is very much in the Persian decorative style. Note too the flowing movement of the flowers and tendrils in the border on the same fuchsia background, that completes the delightful composition. The spacing is so elegant and restrained, and the little birds perched on the tip of the flowers is a lovely touch. Ideal for the wall or table. Overall very good condition. Lined.
