Fine Bokhara Nim-Suzani
Finely embroidered in silk on a linen background, this delightful Nim-Suzani has the hallmarks of a genuine dowry piece. The directional floral design in the field flows elegantly through the lattice of serrated leaves. Note the variety of floral ornaments which makes it so eye-catching but also reveals the skill of the embroiderer. The generously wide border repeats the theme of flowers within a lattice format. All the colours are lovely, especially the burnt orange, greens and fuchsia. Note the gold outlining to the ornaments which gives the composition a very light appearance. Note also the touches of a pale yellow in the details. It’s all very lovely, both decorative and collectible.
